About D.R. Autonomy

What does D.R. stand for?

Derek Richard, the founder's first and middle names. It does not mean “Doctor.”

The parent company is D.R. Autonomy. The transportation chapter is D.R. Autonomy Transportation.

Who founded it?

Derek Richard Morgan, who is based on Utah's Wasatch Front.

Derek started D.R. Autonomy to build the unglamorous local layer that driverless transport will need: places to park, charge, clean and inspect vehicles, plus the insurance, permits and relationships it takes to run them responsibly.

What is the company building?

Depot and operations first. Rides only if a vehicle or platform provider ever opens that door.

  • Depot / yard: lot, charging, washing, inspection, storage and light service for fleet vehicles. No fares.
  • Operations: insurance, permitting, corridors and local partners along the Salt Lake / Wasatch Front.
  • Later, maybe: on-demand autonomous trips, only if an automated-driving provider makes that possible and the rules allow it.

Where things stand today

Forming, in preview. There's no fleet, no ride service and no deposits.

  • No vehicles in service and no rides offered.
  • No deposits or pre-orders. We will never ask for one on this site.
  • Not affiliated with, partnered with or endorsed by Tesla. Tesla, Cybercab and Robotaxi are mentioned only to describe public facts.
  • Public robotaxi service is not live in Utah. See the dated Utah robotaxi status page.
