This page tracks one question: can you ride a driverless robotaxi in Utah yet? Each answer is dated and comes from the company's own site or reputable reporting. D.R. Autonomy is an independent company forming in preview. We are not Tesla, Waymo or Zoox, and none of them endorses us.

Is Tesla Robotaxi available in Utah?

No. As of Oct 2, 2026, Tesla's own Robotaxi page lists six service cities, and none is in Utah.

Tesla's Robotaxi page says autonomous Robotaxi rides "are currently being offered across the U.S. in Austin, Dallas, Houston, Miami, Orlando and Tampa" (Tesla, checked Oct 2, 2026).

Local reporting agrees. TownLift wrote on Sep 15, 2026 that "Tesla does not operate its Robotaxi ride-hailing service in Utah" (TownLift).

About Cybercab sightings: TownLift reported a Cybercab in Park City on Sep 11, 2026 with a visible driver, a Cybercab photographed in American Fork on Aug 24, and a community sighting tracker that had logged 14 reports in the Salt Lake City area since early August (all as reported by TownLift). Test vehicles on Utah roads are not a public ride service. For the federal Cybercab certification inquiry, see our NHTSA notes.

Is Waymo in Salt Lake City?

No. As of Oct 2, 2026, Salt Lake City is not on Waymo's list of cities it serves or names on its website, and we found no Waymo announcement for Utah.

Waymo's website lists the metro areas where it is "serving riders": Atlanta, Austin, Dallas, Denver, Houston, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, Nashville, Orlando, Phoenix, San Antonio, San Diego, the San Francisco Bay Area and Tampa. It also names other cities it is working toward, and no Utah city appears there either (Waymo, checked Oct 2, 2026). Third-party posts about Waymo coming to Salt Lake City are speculation, not announcements.

Is Zoox in Utah?

No. As of Oct 2, 2026, Zoox's website lists Las Vegas, San Francisco, Austin and Miami. None is in Utah.

Zoox's city pages cover Las Vegas, San Francisco, Austin and Miami (Zoox, checked Oct 2, 2026). Zoox wrote in March 2026 that its first commercial markets "remain Las Vegas ... and San Francisco," and that Austin rides would start with employees and their friends and family (Zoox journal, Mar 25, 2026).

Are driverless cars legal in Utah?

Utah has laws for autonomous vehicles, but a law is not a launch. No company has started public driverless rides here.

  • H.B. 101 (2019), "Autonomous Vehicle Regulations," added provisions on operating autonomous vehicles to Utah Code Title 41, Chapter 26 (enrolled bill, le.utah.gov). TownLift reports that Utah law does not require a special permit for autonomous-vehicle testing (TownLift).
  • S.B. 292 (2026), "Autonomous Systems Amendments," sets product-liability rules for automated driving systems, including caps on certain damages and a sunset review. The governor signed it on Mar 23, 2026, and it took effect May 6, 2026 (Governor's office; enrolled bill; Utah News Dispatch via Standard-Examiner).

This is educational only, not legal advice.

What would change this status?

A company announcing public rides in Utah on its own channels. Sightings, testing and new laws don't count on their own.

We will change a row to "live" only when a company adds a Utah city to its own service list or announces public rides here, and we will link the primary source. Testing, mapping, sightings and new legislation stay labeled as what they are.

Where does D.R. Autonomy fit?

We're an independent local company forming in preview, not a robotaxi service.

D.R. Autonomy Transportation is forming an operating and depot layer (charging, cleaning, inspection, storage) for driverless vehicles on the Salt Lake / Wasatch Front. We have no fleet, offer no rides and take no deposits. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by Tesla, Waymo or Zoox. More about us.
